31 years of wedded bliss on

COMMUNITY EMPLOYMENT CAMPAIGN
West Limerick Supervisor’s Network has
recently launched a “campaign” to promote
Community Employment, known as
FAS Schemes, as one of the most successful
employment and re-training programmes.
An open meeting will be held in
Rathkeale Community Centre on Friday,
May 29 at 8pm, where it is hoped that all
interested TD's and Councillors will
attend. Your support would be very much
appreciated.

Best wishes to May Dowling whose family
arranged a surprise birthday party in the
Woodlands House Hotel for her on
Saturday.
Best wishes to Sean O’Shea, junior, who
celebrated his 18th birthday with family
and friends on Saturday night last.

EUROPEAN TRIP
July 9 to 15, 2010, every ten years, 2,000
of the people of Overammergan in
Germany re-enact the Passion of Christ
in the open air. This is a spectacular
event and for most a once in a lifetime
opportunity. To coincide with this, a
group will depart on July 9, 2010 and will
also spend time in Munich and Vienna.
Details from Elma Hanley 069-62605.

CROSS COUNTRY
Christopher Mulcahy, Brian Meade and
‘Bud’ White were in action representing
their county at the national Community
Games cross country finals which were
held in Athlone I.T. for the first time at
the weekend. Brian was in action on
Saturday running the 600m ‘leg’ of the
boys U-14 relay race and can be well
pleased with his performance though the
team in general were really up against it
and just qualified for the final on
Sunday, finishing in fifth place.
Christopher was very unlucky not to
make the starting line up in the boys U-
12 relay on Saturday but his team looked
very convincing winning in style in
unusually soft underfoot conditions for
this time of year. On Sunday morning
Christopher finally got his chance to
show what he can do and he did not disappoint
getting his team right back into
contention in the ‘subs’ race and then
giving them a good lead to set them up
for victory in this mixed foursome event.
‘Bud’ also gave a good account of himself
in the U-14 equivalent giving everything
in his 600m. ‘leg’ but unfortunately it
was not good enough to finish in the top
three on this occasion. All three of these
young lads were making their debut in
the national finals of Community Games
and did great.
Training: There will be no training this
Sunday, May 31 (bank holiday weekend),
training continues every Thursday
evening at 6.20pm, all those qualified to
represent their parish at the Community
Games county finals must attend, we
have relay teams entered in almost all
categories and training is vital.
