RATHKEALE WORLDWIDE
Reminder: Internet blog site for Rathkeale brings news to people locally and around the world at http.//Rathkeale news.blogspot.com.

ST. JOSEPH’S CEMETERY
The people who are buried in our cemeteries and especially St. Joseph’s cemetery deserve respect and honour. Graveyards are not and have never been playgrounds for children. If you have a loved one buried there you do not need to find the grave desecrated and vandalised. A number of graves have been vandalised recently, this will not be tolerated under any condition.

ATHLETICS
The results from our recent Track and Field championships were very heartening. Our young girls won the first four sprints in a row at u/9 Sophie Meredith and Aoife Corbett 8th, u/10 Mary O’Connor from Shanagolden, u/11 Maeve Power and u/12 Eadaoinn Lyons with Tara Coleman 2nd and Sarah Enright 5th.
Our boys were just as impressive with three of them making their club debut, Andrew Meade an excellent second u/9 60m and likewise Micheál Mulcahy a very close third; Michael Shanahan was very unlucky to lose out on the medals finishing fourth in a tough 300m and also enjoying the ball throw and long jump as did Molly Gleeson, both of these young athletes only recently joined from Coolcappa.
Sophie in fact won the 60 and 300m.
Well done to all our athletes.
Training: Training continues on this Thursday evening and on Sunday morning at the usual times.
Best Wishes: Good luck to our three athletes off to Athlone for the National Community Games cross country finals, Christopher Mulcahy, ‘Bud’ White and Brian Meade, all will be making their debut for Limerick in this event. Also to club members Sarah Lanigan and Fiachra O’Gorman and to all the Limerick athletes and managers.
Singlets: If anyone has club singlets could they please drop them off at training.

WORKSHOPS
Arising from the meeting held recently in Rathkeale, regarding the future of Rathkeale and its people, workshops are being held on Sunday, May 24 at 2.30pm and Monday, May 25 at 8pm in the Community Centre. The hall was packed to capacity on the night of the meeting. A very positive feeling arose from the meeting and hopefully it will be expanded as time goes on.
