COMMUNITY COUNCIL CARDS RESULTS
FIRST prize, Eileen Griffin, Irene Donovan; 2nd prize, Kieran Scanlan, Eileen Carrig. Table prizes: Mai Wall, Nancy Danaher; Denis O’Keeffe, Maureen O’Shea. The cards committee together with the card players wish to extend sincere sympathy to Madigan family, relatives and friends on the death of Donal Madigan.

COLAISTE NA TROCAIRE LEAVING CERT
Congratulations to all the pupils from Colaiste na Trocaire, Rathkeale who received their results on Wednesday. John Brouder, Headmaster said that the Leaving Certificate class were a lovely group of young people. They made a large contribution to the Colaiste in the areas of games, debating, music, athletics, student council and green schools. He said that they deserve their excellent results achieved in this years Leaving Certificate. Each and everyone is wished the best in whatever career they decide to follow.

WATER SAFETY CLASSES
Water Safety Classes are being held in Pallaskenry Swimming pool, starting at 10am on Monday, August 24. It is no load to carry to do Water Safety, you never know when it will come in useful or if you want a career in swimming and Water Safety. If anyone in Rathkeale is interested please contact Michael O’Sullivan on 061-393204.

SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to husband Norman, son Donald, daughters Audrey, Glynis, Hilary on the death of Maureen Teskey. Sincere sympathy is extended to Ann, Mary, Helen, Nolleen, Mike, Brian, Brian junior, grandchildren, relatives and friends on the death of their mother Nora Kennedy.

CREGAN – COSTELLOE WEDDING

On Saturday, August 8, the wedding between Rachel Cregan, daughter of Jim and Geraldine Cregan, Ballinvirick, Cappagh and Patrick Costelloe, son of Pat and Kitty Costelloe, Main Street, Rathkeale was celebrated in St. James’s Church, Cappagh. The celebrant of the Nuptial Mass was Canon Frank Duhig PP, Newcastle West. The bestman was Brendan Costelloe, with Robert Cregan, Davy Mann and Martin Costelloe as groomsmen. Maid of honour was Caroline O’Grady with Laura Healy, Hilary Mulcaire and Mary Costelloe, bridesmaids, pageboy was Cian Costelloe, flowergirls were Emma Steen Dillon and Casey Costelloe. Soloist was Sharon Lynch accompanied by Mike Murphy and Laura Healy. Maureen Mulcaire read the first reading, Gerard Mulcaire read the second reading. Prayers of the Faithful were read by Michael McNamara, Liam O’Sullivan, Ciara O’Shea, Martin Costelloe and Maureen Dillon. At the Offertory procession the gifts were presented by Geraldine Cregan, mother of the bride and Kitty Costelloe, mother of the groom. Robert Cregan brother of the bride read the communion reflection. The reception was held at the Woodlands House Hotel. Dance music was provided by Keepin- Touch. Rachael and Patrick are wished health, happiness and longevity.

SHEEHY-LYNCH WEDDING
Best wishes to Carol Sheehy, daughter of Willie and Ann Sheehy who got married to Sean Lynch, son of the late Sean and Eileen, Shanagolden.

BEST WISHES
To Gary White, St. Mary’s Park, who celebrated his 21st with family and friends on Saturday last. To Barry Nix, who celebrated his 30th birthday with family and friends on Saturday last. To Shannon O’Riordan who celebrated her birthday on Sunday with family and friends.

SYMPATHY
Sincere sympathy is extended to brother Mike, sisters Hilary and Mary on the death of their sister, Helen.

DOUBLE RESCUE
Barry McGrath, a 26 year old County Limerick business student, recently completed a double rescue in Clonea, Co. Waterford. Without any consideration of danger to himself, he dived into the sea when he spotted a young father Colin O’Grady in trouble and being swept further out to sea. A 17-year-old girl, Laura Duggan, also spotted the struggling man, but she got into difficulties as well. Barry who is a kayak instructor, grabbed his kayak, he rescued both people. Just as he had brought the two into the beach, a 40-year-old got into trouble. he also saved him. Barry is a trained lifeguard and spent three winters in the Gold Coast Hotel. Barry’s father started a water sports business in 1996 and Barry took over the running of the business five years ago. As well as running his business, he returns to college in September to continue his business studies course.

HARVEST FAIR
Milford Harvest Fair takes place on Sunday, August 30 at 1pm.

RATHKEALE – ST. MARY’S ATHLETIC CLUB
Last Sunday our athletes were in action in Castleisland. In the U8, 50m Holly Meredith came first with Ellen Lynch finishing third. In the 100m Niamh Foley was second, Holly Meredith 3rd and Ellen Lynch 4th. Sophie Meredith finished 2nd in the U9 sprint. Barry Coleman was hampered in the sprint and finished outside the top three. In the under 11 heats, she slipped on the line at the start and came in 5th. Maeve Power won her heat well, and then won the final 60m. In the U12 girls sprint, Tara Coleman ran a great race to win, with Eadan Lyons second. Claire English injured her leg in this race and had to stand down from the relay later on. Catherine Power was 2nd and Una Walsh in the last sprint of the day. A great start to the day, Eadoin 2nd 600M, Catherine and Una 1st and 2nd 800m, Barry 1st in the ball throw and Sophie 1st in the girl’s ball throw. Our U9 relay girls, Niamh, Holly, Ellen and Sophie were easy winners, the same team winning the U-10 relay. The U11 girls secured 3rd place with the U12 girls winning their relay. A good day out for most of the runners and a good work out for Athlone next weekend. We would like to wish our runners Rachel Lynch 60m hurdles, Padraig Power 60m hurdles, Eadaon Lyons U12 100M, the U12 relay team of Tara Coleman, Clare English, Chloe Mullins, Kate Geary, Maeve Power, Eadaon Lyons on the panel, the best of luck. Darren Jones in the marathon, Kerry Dillon in javelin and Bud White in the shot putt. Finally the best of luck to Holly Meredith in the U8 80m.
