RETIREMENT
Gerry O’Connor, a native of Duagh, Co. Kerry, did his secondary schooling in St. Michael’s college. He joined the Gardai in Templemore, 1978. Edward Street and Henry Street in Limerick were his first ports of call and then to Newcastle West. He was assigned to Rathkeale in 1983. Gerry is a living legend in Rathkeale, everybody knows Gerry. He had a word for everyone young and old alike when he was walking the street. He will be greatly missed and will leave a void in the station and Rathkeale.
I for one will certainly miss his banter and putting the fear of the “Super” in me. Gerry is wished health, happiness, longevity with his wife and son. Gerry’s retirement party is on in Rathkeale House Hotel at 9pm on Thursday, June 25.
