Nice to hear that Rathkeale A.F.C is to about to purchase a defibrillator and have personal trained in the operation of it. St. Joseph’s Young Priest’s Society-

The monthly meeting of St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society will be held in St. Anne’s Convent on Thursday 10th April at 8.00 p.m. new members are always welcome.

Trocaire-

The Bishops of Ireland have made an unprecedented call to the public urging them to return their Trocaire boxes to their local church on Sunday 19th April to mark an end to the Lenten campaign. This initiative by the Bishops is recognition by the Church of the increased vulnerability of the world’s poorest people given the Global Economic Crisis.

A Strange World-

Strange how a five euro note seems so large in Church but so small in the supermarket! Strange how long seems for mass and yet so short for a soap. What a thrill when the football match goes into extra time but how uncomfortable one feels if it is a sermon. How hard to get interest in a few verses of scripture. How we find hard to put down the News of the World. Strange how we prefer the back seats in Church but the front seats at a concert. Strange how we easily we adjust our schedule for a party but not for easy for some Parish activity. Strange how we can believe what we read in the newspaper but we question the teaching of Christ. Strange how we all want to go to Heaven provided we do not have to believe, say or do too much to get there. It is a strange world .

Wheely Bin-

The wheely bin at Our Lady’s Shrine Church St. is there for the purpose of putting withered flowers into it. It is not there for the dumping of domestic waste. Would the people who dump domestic waste in the bin or indeed at the rear of the Shrine please refrain from doing so.
