SWIMMING CLUB
The annual general meeting of the Swimming Club will take place on Friday, September 25 at 8pm in the Community Hall. All are welcome. Adult lane swimming will commence on Monday nights from 9pm to 10pm at Askeaton Pool and Leisure. Cost of term is b55. If you are interested please contact Breda King at 086-1042522.
GOING STRONG
The Going Strong Club will resume its activities for the coming season on Tuesday, September 29 with Mass at 3pm. Please come along and enjoy a chat, cup of tea, sing song and a few games of bingo.
ABC NEWS
Material is now being collected for this year’s edition of the ABC News. Notes, photos, articles etc can be handed in to Joe McCarthy, Dermot McCarthy, Nora Kelly, Anita Guinane and Martina McCarthy.

RETIREMENT GROUP
Askeaton/Ballysteen Active Retirement Group’s activities in the Community Hall, Askeaton, will resume on September 30 at 8pm. All welcome.
VARIETY GROUP
The annual general meeting of the Askeaton/Ballysteen Variety Group will take place on Wednesday, September 30 at 8.30pm in the Community Hall, Askeaton. Recession busting fun and games promised.
A new panto may also be in the pipeline. All that is necessary for these things not to happen, is that people do nothing. All are welcome.
MINI MARATHON“Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”
Ladies join in with Nicola and the ladies from her exercise class to walk/run the Limerick Mini Marathon in UL on Sunday, October 4. All in aid of raising money for Sarah O’Sullivan and St. Gabriel’s School. Nicola is doing training on Monday evenings at 7pm. All over 18’s welcome.

SPONSORED WALK
Theresa O’Donovan Smith and Niall completed a 14km walk through Dublin Mountains last Sunday, in aid of the Diabetic Research Unit at Crumlin Children’s Hospital. They raised b2,300 through sponsorship and a collection at Twohig’s Supervalu. The walk raised b160,000 in total.
They would like to thank all their friends who helped with the collection. Thanks to Theresa’s work colleagues and to Twohig’s and their customers for their generosity.
ACADEMY
Every Saturday, commencing on Saturday, September 19, the Askeaton AFC Academy for under 5, under 6 and under 7 boys and girls will be held in the Astropark at the Askeaton AFC Grounds.
These free, fun training sessions are open to all boys and girls in Junior Infants, Senior Infants and First Class. Any parents interested in getting involved at coach/supervisor levels are also welcome. No football boots are allowed on the Astroturf. Runners and shin guards are required.
